SB 553 -- CONVEYANCE IN NODAWAY COUNTY

SPONSOR:  Klindt (Barnett)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee
on Correctional and State Institutions by a vote of 13 to 0.

This bill authorizes the Board of Regents of Northwest Missouri
State University to enter into a lease agreement with the
Missouri National Guard and the City of Maryville for a period
of 50 years for the purpose of allowing the National Guard and
the city to build an armory and civic center.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill establishes a
renewable lease agreement between Northwest Missouri State
University, the National Guard, and the City of Maryville.

Testifying for the bill was Representative Barnett.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
